Details Itinerary
Arrive at Mount Kenya National Park, where you’ll meet your guide and team for the climb. After a briefing and equipment check, you’ll begin your trek at the Sirimon Gate. The trek starts through the lush rainforest, offering views of the mountain’s striking peaks. The path takes you to Old Moses Camp, located at 3,300 meters (10,827 feet). After a well-deserved dinner, you’ll rest and acclimatize to the higher altitude, preparing for the days ahead
After breakfast, you’ll start your trek towards Shipton’s Camp, situated at 4,200 meters (13,780 feet), located below the dramatic cliffs of Mount Kenya’s peaks. The trail winds through alpine meadows, rocky terrain, and expansive views of the surrounding valleys. You’ll take breaks to acclimatize, and once at Shipton’s Camp, you can rest while enjoying the breathtaking scenery of the jagged peaks, including the iconic Batian and Nelion summits. The camp provides a perfect opportunity to enjoy a stunning sunset over the mountain.
Today is the summit day. You’ll wake up early for a pre-dawn start to the summit, aiming for Point Lenana, located at 4,985 meters (16,355 feet). The climb is challenging, with rocky terrain and icy sections, but the reward is the breathtaking sunrise from the summit, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. After celebrating at the summit, you’ll begin your descent, retracing your steps back to Shipton’s Camp for a quick break before continuing down to the Meru Mount Kenya Bandas, where you’ll spend the night at a lower altitude, easing the effects of the climb.
On the final day, you’ll descend from the Meru Mount Kenya Bandas to Sirimon Gate, completing the trek. The descent is relatively easy compared to the previous days, as you pass through lush forests and scenic valleys. Once at Sirimon Gate, you’ll meet your vehicle for the drive back to Nairobi, where you’ll arrive in the late afternoon or evening, marking the end of your exhilarating Mount Kenya adventure.
