Details Itinerary
Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from Entebbe or Kampala, followed by a scenic 8-9 hour drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. The journey takes you through Uganda’s beautiful countryside, passing rolling hills, lush plantations, and rural villages. A stopover in Mbarara town allows you to enjoy lunch at the famous Igongo Cultural Centre, where you can learn about the rich heritage of western Uganda. Continuing the journey, you will pass through the breathtaking Kigezi Highlands, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa.” Upon arrival at your lodge near Bwindi, you will check in, relax, and enjoy dinner as you prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure. Overnight stay at a selected lodge (Budget, Mid-range, or Luxury).
After an early breakfast, you will proceed to the Bwindi Park headquarters for a briefing by experienced rangers. Here, you will be assigned to a gorilla family and begin your trek through the dense rainforest, which can take between 2-6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. Once you find them, you will spend an unforgettable one hour observing their behaviors—watching the young play, the silverback protect his group, and the mothers care for their babies. This once-in-a-lifetime experience offers incredible photo opportunities and deepens your appreciation of wildlife conservation. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and some well-deserved rest. In the afternoon, you can take part in an optional community visit, where you will meet the Batwa Pygmies, one of Uganda’s indigenous forest communities, and learn about their traditional way of life. The evening is spent at the lodge, enjoying dinner and a cozy atmosphere.
After breakfast, you will embark on a scenic 5-hour drive to the CTC Conservation Centre, located in the pristine wilderness of central Uganda. The centre is dedicated to wildlife conservation, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment. Upon arrival, you will enjoy lunch and a guided nature walk, where you can observe different plant species, birds, and wildlife while learning about conservation efforts in the area. Later, you will have the opportunity to engage with local communities and participate in hands-on conservation activities such as tree planting, sustainable farming, or wildlife monitoring. In the evening, enjoy a relaxing dinner and a campfire discussion about conservation and ecotourism before retiring to your lodge.
On your final day, you will have breakfast at the centre before participating in interactive conservation activities, such as wildlife tracking, beekeeping, or educational programs on protecting Uganda’s natural heritage. After the experience, you will begin the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe, with a stopover for lunch in Mbarara or Masaka. You will arrive in Kampala/Entebbe in the late afternoon or early evening, concluding your incredible 4-day gorilla trekking and conservation adventure.
