Details Itinerary

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where you’ll be greeted by your guide and transferred to the Machame Gate to begin your adventure. After a short briefing, start your trek through the lush rainforest, encountering unique vegetation and wildlife. The trek takes about 5-7 hours, and you’ll end the day at Machame Camp (2,980 meters/9,780 feet), where you’ll settle in for the night, enjoy a warm meal, and rest.
The second day begins with a steady climb through moorland and heath zones as you make your way to Shira Camp (3,850 meters/12,600 feet). The landscape changes to offer stunning views of the mountain and the surrounding plains. The trek takes 5-6 hours, and you’ll arrive at Shira Camp, where you’ll spend the night, acclimatizing to the higher altitude.
This is one of the more challenging days, as you ascend through alpine desert terrain. The trek will take about 6-7 hours, as you climb up to the Lava Tower (4,630 meters/15,190 feet) before descending to Barranco Camp (3,950 meters/12,960 feet). The Lava Tower is a great spot for acclimatization. The descent to Barranco Camp helps your body adjust to the higher altitude while providing great views of the summit and nearby glaciers.
After breakfast, you’ll tackle the Barranco Wall, a steep but rewarding climb that offers spectacular panoramic views of the mountain and its surroundings. Once at the top, you’ll descend into the Karanga Valley, eventually arriving at Karanga Camp (4,035 meters/13,240 feet) after a 4-5 hour trek. This day is vital for acclimatization as you prepare for the final ascent.
This is the big day! You’ll start your ascent to the summit (Uhuru Peak, 5,895 meters/19,341 feet) around midnight or early morning, in the hopes of reaching the summit for sunrise. The final stretch is challenging, with cold temperatures and high altitudes, but the sense of accomplishment upon reaching the top is immense. After celebrating at the summit, you’ll descend to Mweka Camp (3,100 meters/10,170 feet) for a well-deserved rest. This final day of climbing takes around 12-14 hours, including both the ascent and descent.
On your last day, you’ll make your way down from Mweka Camp to the Mweka Gate, which takes about 3-4 hours. Once you reach the gate, you’ll be met by your transfer vehicle and taken back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro for departure. Congratulations on your successful Kilimanjaro climb!
