Details Itinerary
Your journey begins with an early morning departure from Entebbe or Kampala, heading west toward Kibale National Park, the primate capital of the world. The 5-6 hour scenic drive takes you through tea plantations, lush rolling hills, and the charming town of Fort Portal. Along the way, you’ll stop for lunch and enjoy breathtaking views of the Rwenzori Mountains. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge and relax, soaking in the tranquil forest atmosphere. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner as you prepare for the exciting trekking adventure ahead.
After an early breakfast, head to Kibale National Park headquarters for a briefing before embarking on your chimpanzee trekking experience. Accompanied by experienced rangers, you will explore the dense tropical rainforest, home to over 1,500 chimpanzees and 12 other primate species. Once you locate a chimpanzee troop, you will spend an incredible one hour observing their behavior—watching them swing through trees, groom each other, and communicate in their natural habitat. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, take a guided Bigodi Wetland Walk, a community-run initiative that offers a chance to see other primates, colorful birds, and rare plant species. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, enjoy a nature walk around the crater lakes, a stunning collection of volcanic lakes surrounded by lush greenery. The breathtaking views and serene environment make for an unforgettable experience. Later, embark on a 2-hour drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most famous wildlife park, renowned for its diverse ecosystems and abundant wildlife. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge and have lunch. In the afternoon, take a relaxing boat safari on the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. Here, you’ll witness hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, and various bird species up close. After the cruise, return to the lodge for dinner and a peaceful night’s rest.
Rise early for a game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you’ll have a chance to spot elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and antelopes. The morning hours are the best time for wildlife viewing as animals are more active. After the drive, return to the lodge for breakfast before starting the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. Enjoy lunch en route and take in the scenic landscapes before arriving in the evening. Check in to your hotel for a restful night.
